Glamping pods will vary in cost, starting at about £2000 for an imported flat pack pod up to well in excess of £40,000 for some of the more luxurious pods on the market.
Imported flat pack pods
We are seeing an increase in suppliers who import flat pack pods from abroad. They are then assembled much as you would with a garden shed, and often branded up as their own work. You will generally find these on display at garden centres, Facebook MarketPlace, and more recently on dedicated websites. This is a trend that is seen for other wooden buildings such as modular garden offices and bars. While there is a place for these pods, the quality will be hit and miss and you will get what you are given in terms of sizes and layouts.
Luxury glamping pods
At the other end of the market, you will find all sorts of weird and wonderful ‘pods’ that have mutated into something more akin to single-story wooden buildings that resemble UFOs. These are in the region of £30000 to £50000. They are often fully fitted out and furnished. While these can be very impressive you will be paying the price for such a complex pod which often puts them out of reach of private individuals and also makes them less desirable to glamping sites due to the lower return on investment.
Solid, British built pods
Here at Wooden Leisure, we concentrate on supplying solid and robust pods of the more traditional pod style; two wooden end gables and a curved roof. They are designed and constructed by our carpenters in our Rutland based workshop, while still keeping the cost affordable.
A smaller pod with no bathroom or kitchen but some basic options will be around £4,500. Whereas one of our modernly specified medium-sized pods with a kitchen and bathroom would start at about £11500.
Transport is a consideration, the cost will vary depending on distance and access. We also offer the option of an onsite install, this is generally more economical if you are located within an hour of our workshop or access does not allow for a lorry fitted with a Hiab.
